Without ink, head can get too warm and gets burned, damaging the printer permanently. Also if your ink cartridge is empty (such as HP ink or Epson ink) it can make the nozzle on the head block, because not enough ink is passing through and the ink dry inside. That’s why printers tend to clean the heads every now and then when they are in stand by. Damaging your printer head by using an empty cartridge will usually void manufacturers warranty!
